THAC 2025 – The 23rd High-End Healthcare Development Forum Successfully Concluded in Shanghai

The “THAC 2025 – The 23rd High-End Healthcare Development Forum,” organized by the Noppen Group, was successfully held in Shanghai on December 11–12, 2025.


Senior leaders from leading high-end medical groups, premium private hospitals, specialty clinics, and international departments of public hospitals gathered to discuss future innovations in high-end healthcare and explore opportunities for strategic collaboration.


Keynote Speeches and Insights

Dr. Gu Jingwen, Director of the International Medical Center at Huashan Hospital affiliated with Fudan University, delivered a keynote titled “Innovative Practices and Integrated Development of International Medical Service Models.”

She emphasized that international medical services, characterized by high clinical standards and advanced technology, primarily serve cross-border patients and are often funded through commercial insurance. Using Shanghai Huashan Hospital as a case study, Dr. Gu introduced its “general practice plus specialty care, with dedicated case management” service model and its role in promoting industry standardization through China’s first international medical service standards. She also highlighted Shanghai’s policy-driven initiatives to build an international medical brand, foster public-private collaboration, and establish the city as a global medical hub.



Dr. Huang Lianjun, Vice President and Director of Imaging & Interventional Diagnostics at Shanghai DeDa Cardiovascular Hospital, spoke on “The Establishment and Development of Wholly Foreign-Owned Cardiovascular Specialty Hospitals.”
He shared how the hospital focuses on cardiovascular and oncology care, providing international-standard, one-stop diagnosis and treatment alongside whole-life-cycle health management. The hospital is part of the tertiary medical insurance network, supports cross-provincial settlement, and partners with over 60 commercial insurers. Its “DeDa Heart Team” integrates cardiology, cardiac surgery, and rehabilitation for seamless care. The hospital also operates a comprehensive health screening center leveraging its cardiovascular and oncology expertise.


Dr. Zhou Yongbing, Vice President of Peking University International Hospital, presented “Digital-Intelligence Integration, Boundless Renewal: Value Reconstruction and Global Practice of High-End Healthcare in the New Era.”
He explained how the hospital leverages resources from Peking University Health Science Center and the Ping An Group to build a full-life-cycle health service system. As part of the Ping An healthcare ecosystem, the hospital runs 22 institutions with over 5,800 beds and multiple international accreditations. Its International Medical Center offers dedicated services for domestic and overseas patients. Future plans include further digital-intelligence integration to create a connected health management platform.


Mr. Yang Jundong, General Manager of Youaibe Shanghai and President of Shanghai Pubin Children’s Hospital, discussed “The Survival Strategy of Private Pediatric Hospitals under a High Cost-Effectiveness Model.”
He addressed challenges such as declining birth rates and increased competition, highlighting the hospital’s use of membership programs and commercial insurance to ensure stable revenue. The hospital also focuses on service quality, 24/7 emergency care, and patient experience through comprehensive quality control and satisfaction surveys.

Dr. Ke Yazhen, Vice President of Suzhou BenQ Hospital, delivered “From ‘Product’ to ‘Service’: The Productization Mindset and Refined Operations of High-End Medical Services.”
She described how the hospital addresses non-standardized services, over-reliance on star doctors, and limited value propositions by adopting a productized approach. This includes standardizing service packages, personalizing care pathways, and implementing full-cycle management. The hospital’s “three pillars”—International Medical Center, Senior Expert Consultation Center, and Health Care Center—exemplify this strategy.


Mr. Chen Weili, Deputy Chief Architect of East China Architectural Design & Research Institute, spoke on “Empowering with Design Planning to Enhance Medical Quality.”
He emphasized creating healing environments that resemble garden hotels, incorporating art, natural light, and green spaces. Design should address patient dignity, privacy, family support, and staff well-being. He also covered spatial requirements for advanced technologies such as proton therapy and innovative operating rooms.



Ms. Jin Luqing, Administrative Medical Director of Majestic Worldwide Healthcare Group and Assistant to the President of Shanghai Majestic Women & Children’s Hospital, presented “Beyond Service: Building the Moat of High-Quality Medical Care with Clinical Hard Power.”
She shared how the group strengthened its clinical capabilities and service experience to differentiate itself in the high-end private healthcare market. The group focuses on women’s and children’s health across the life cycle, operates multiple facilities in Shanghai, and emphasizes clinical excellence, patient safety, and humanistic care.


Dr. Wang Zhen, Director of the International Medical Department and General Practice Department at Taikang Tongji (Wuhan) Hospital, delivered “The Value Orientation and Connotation Construction of Taikang Healthcare in the Era of Longevity Medicine.”
She outlined Taikang’s “insurance + healthcare & elderly care” model, which integrates financing and delivery to build a nationwide high-quality medical network. The group focuses on specialty development, talent acquisition, and technology innovation to provide whole-life-cycle health solutions.



Dr. Zhu Chouwen, President of the Shanghai Clinical Research Center (SCRC), spoke on “How to Design Comfortable, Friendly, Natural, Ecological, and Highly Efficient Intelligent Medical Spaces.”
He introduced SCRC’s “park within a hospital” design concept, which prioritizes patient experience, interdisciplinary collaboration, and integration of clinical research with care. The center is set to open in 2026 and will focus on major diseases such as cancer and neurological disorders.



Panel Discussion

An afternoon panel on “The Future Development Forms of High-End Healthcare under New Circumstances” was moderated by Ms. Huang Wenbi, Founder and CEO of Shanghai Zhenyu Health Management Consulting.
Panelists included Ms. Wang Xiaoli, Vice President of Shulan Medical Group; Dr. Wang Zhen, Director of the International Medical Department at Taikang Tongji (Wuhan) Hospital; and Ms. Dai Juren, Deputy Chief Architect of Shanghai Tianhua Medical & Elderly Care Architectural Design Co., Ltd.
They discussed topics such as implementing the core of high-end healthcare, innovations in medical models and technology, and the future of a diversified high-end healthcare landscape.




Day Two Highlights

Dr. Qiu Zhijie, Executive Director of Shanghai United Family Hospital (Pudong Campus), opened the second day with “Specialization Development and Service System Construction in High-End Healthcare.”
He explained how United Family Healthcare is shifting from a general service model to a specialty-driven one, establishing centers of excellence in areas such as acute & critical care, orthopedics, and sports medicine. The strategy includes recruiting leading experts, adopting advanced technology, and innovating in insurance partnerships.



Dr. Liu Dan, President of Tianjin Pengruili Hospital, discussed “Opportunities and Challenges Facing Wholly Foreign-Owned Hospitals.”
He noted that while China’s healthcare market opening offers opportunities in policy easing and growing demand, challenges remain in insurance integration and talent retention. The hospital’s “medical-rehabilitation-elderly care-tourism” integrated model represents one approach to differentiation.

Mr. Ding Zhen, Vice President of Xi’an International Medical Investment Co., Ltd., presented “Exploration of Differentiated Development Paths for Medical Institutions.”
He shared how the group has grown from a single hospital into a multi-campus system with international accreditations and advanced specialties, including plans for a large-scale International Medical City.

Dr. Yang Rongwei, Deputy Director of the Information Center at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, delivered “Enhancing the Medical Prevention Benefits of Diabetes through AI in Health Information Systems.”
He proposed using AI and integrated health platforms to improve diabetes screening, monitoring, follow-up, and self-management, enabling better coordination between hospitals, public health, and primary care.


Mr. Men Shaohua, International Operations Director at the Children’s Hospital of Fudan University, presented “Towards Excellence: Deconstructing the High-End Medical Services of the World’s Best Hospitals.”
Using Mayo Clinic as an example, he analyzed the core elements of world-class medical services: patient-centered values, integrated team-based care, continuous innovation, exceptional patient experience, and healing environments.
