To further advance the development of hospice and palliative care nationwide and standardize related practices, the National Health Commission organized relevant experts to revise the Hospice and Palliative Care Practice Guidelines (Trial Edition) issued in 2017. This revision has resulted in the Hospice and Palliative Care Practice Guidelines (2025 Edition).
The Hospice and Palliative Care Practice Guidelines (2025 Edition) clarify that hospice and palliative care practice should center on patients in the terminal stage and their families, delivered through a multidisciplinary collaborative model. Key content includes pain and symptom management, comfort care, and psychological, spiritual, and social support. This edition revises and updates sections related to symptom control, comfort care, psychological support, and humanistic care. It also further refines and improves relevant assessment and observation points, treatment principles, nursing essentials, support elements, and precautions for reference and implementation across all regions.
